Days to Thanksgiving: 4 more days! (Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 27). |
Boulder's police chief, Stephen Redfearn, has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit from former NAACP executive Darren O’Connor, intensifying local tensions over policing and free speech.
This clash traces back to O’Connor’s vocal opposition to Redfearn’s appointment, citing his involvement in the tragic 2019 death of Elijah McClain in Aurora.
McClain, a young Black man, died after police used force and administered ketamine, sparking widespread calls for reform.
O’Connor claims Redfearn and city manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde retaliated by filing complaints that harmed his career.
Redfearn counters that Colorado’s anti-SLAPP laws protect his actions as free expression, not vengeance.
Amid this, the national NAACP sues O’Connor over alleged fund mishandling, complicating Boulder’s civil rights debates.
A settlement conference looms in December, while activists demand Redfearn’s resignation.
This case tests accountability in Colorado’s progressive communities, with residents eyeing impacts on trust and reform. Read More... |

The aromas of Thanksgiving feasts are tempting for pets, but hidden dangers lurk in many dishes.
Offer plain turkey meat as a treat, steering clear of seasoned skin or bones that could splinter and harm.
Steer away from chocolate, grapes, onions, and garlic, which can cause serious toxicity or digestive issues.
Rich gravies and stuffings packed with fats and herbs are also risky.
For safer options, try plain green beans, carrots, or unsweetened pumpkin to support digestion.
In 2025, vets emphasize avoiding corncobs and yeast dough to prevent blockages or bloating.
Plain sweet potatoes make another healthy veggie choice for furry friends.
By choosing pet-friendly alternatives, families can enjoy a worry-free holiday season together.
Rule of Paw: If it's seasoned for humans, it's probably unsafe for pets. Read More... |
