Local Swimmers from Holy Family, Fairview, and Broomfield Dominate at Mustang Invite

Standout performances at the Thornton meet signal a fierce race for the state championships, with Holy Family’s Lorelai Frauenfelder leading the charge.

The water at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center in Thornton was churning with top-tier talent this weekend, but it was local athletes who truly made waves.

Swimmers from Holy Family, Fairview, and Broomfield delivered stunning performances at the prestigious Mustang Invite, firmly placing the rest of the state on notice.

Leading the pack was Holy Family’s superstar, Lorelai Frauenfelder, who continues to build a legendary high school career.

She fearlessly conquered the 500-yard freestyle, an event she rarely swims, winning by an impressive margin with a time of 5:08.97.

Frauenfelder also secured a victory in the 100 breaststroke, adding to her collection of top-ranked times across multiple Class 3A events.

Her goal is clear: repeat the incredible feeling of winning two state titles last season for Holy Family.

Meanwhile, Fairview’s Lexi Byrn brought the heat from a recent national victory to the local pool.

Coming off a Junior West Nationals title in the 200 butterfly, Byrn showed her mettle by winning the 100 butterfly at the Mustang Invite.

Her success has been a massive confidence boost, proving she can achieve results even she didn't think were possible and helping power Fairview to a second-place team finish.

The friendly fire between teammates is fueling another local powerhouse.

Broomfield seniors Ellie Foulke and Ridley Hagerman are a dominant duo in Class 4A, and their competitive partnership is pushing the entire team forward.

Foulke mentioned their good-natured rivalry in training helps them both stay sharp as they push each other to succeed.

At the invite, Foulke took second in the 500 freestyle while Hagerman placed third in the 100 freestyle.

Their combined strength has positioned Broomfield as a serious contender for the state title.

With athletes this skilled across multiple schools, the road to the state finals is shaping up to be an unforgettable local showdown.
